hfs, hfs+ options greyed out in gparted
If you try to format a drive in hfs, hfs+ format using gparted and the options are greyed out, enter the following command in the terminal:-

sudo apt-get install hfsprogs

Restart gparted and you should be able to format the drive in hfs or hfs+
